BEYOND BARRIERS: EMPOWERS PWDS TO ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL (POSTER)

Beyond Barriers is an advocacy that aims to empower persons with disabilities (PWDs) to achieve their full potential and to promote a more inclusive and accessible society for all. It seeks to raise awareness and understanding of the situation, needs, and rights of PWDs among the general public, especially among students, teachers, and school administrators, who can be the agents of change and the allies of PWDs. It also provides skills training and livelihood opportunities for PWDs, especially those who are out of school or unemployed, to enhance their employability and income generation, and to help them pursue their dreams and goals. It engages and collaborates with relevant stakeholders, such as government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, the private sector, media, and PWD groups, to support and implement disability-inclusive policies and programs, such as the provision of ramps, sign language interpreters, and assistive devices. It is inspired by the personal experience of the advocate, who has a cousin with cerebral palsy, and who believes that PWDs have valuable contributions to make to their communities and to the society at large.
